Are you passionate about tackling climate challenges and driving sustainability solutions? As an Environmental Justice Program Coordinator in the Climate Corps Fellowship program, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to impactful climate resiliency/sustainability initiatives with EERC. This is a hybrid position with the expectation of onsite work 3 days and remote 2 days per week.
In this role, you’ll support community garden development, clean energy access, green job promotion, sustainable transportation, fostering deeper connections with nature, and assessing environmental barriers to cultural resilience. You’ll collaborate with the Environmental Department while gaining hands-on experience and making a tangible difference in the sustainability sector.

About Our Partner: EERC
The Ethiopian and Eritrean Cultural and Resource Center (EECRC) is a Portland, Oregon-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by volunteers to empower African immigrants and refugees. It provides culturally specific services focused on community resilience, education, health equity, and integration into their new environment.

What We’re Looking For
- Interest in environmental justice, sustainability, and community-based environmental work.
- Experience with or exposure to community engagement, outreach, research, or program support.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, including documenting meetings and developing basic educational materials.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders and manage project details and follow-up.
- Comfortable working with data collection, surveys, and information management; adaptable to evolving priorities.
- The ability to work onsite on a hybrid basis. This position requires the employee to be physically located within commuting distance of the site location at the time of hire. Only candidates currently residing within commuting distance of the site address will be considered.

- Authorization to work in the United States for the duration of the fellowship (SEI is unable to sponsor visas).
- May require occasional moving about to accomplish tasks, moving from one worksite to another, or adjusting or moving objects under 25-50 pounds in all directions.

What We Provide
- A fixed, monthly stipend of $3,483.33.
- Health care coverage with 100% of health care insurance premiums covered by SEI.
- Climate Corps Fellows receive 20 personal days for a standard 10-month fellowship (equivalent to about 2 days per month), which may be used for vacation, holidays, or sick time. Fellowships longer than 10 months include additional days, prorated accordingly.
