Position Summary Description
This position is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance and operations of Shady Hills Energy Center in accordance with approved maintenance, operations, safety and environmental procedures. Serves as the administrator of the Distributed Control System (DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), and Turbine Control System (TCS) by performing maintenance, tuning, logic configuration, navigation and cyber security for Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) control network software and hardware, including management of installed data historian.
Essential Functions
- Reports to and takes direction from the Manager of Maintenance as assigned
- Ensures safe, effective, and efficient maintenance of the plant. Complies with safety rules and procedures; uses safe work practices and behaviors. Reports all safety concerns.
- Complies with NERC, Environmental, Health & Safety guidelines and all operating permits and regulations.
- Performs control system (DCS/PLC) maintenance, repair, administration, and monitoring.
- Assists SECI and contract personnel in technical support issues.
- Performs routine backups of all major control system software and databases and assist in the data recovery and restoration of control system equipment as required.
- Supports engineering approved Design Change Requests and/or Management of Change processes.
- Develops control logic and supports modification of control algorithms within the control systems.
- Develops HMI graphics and templates within control systems.
- Analyzes current system software, proposed modifications and new software for impact on installation.
- Executes operating system and control system patch management to ensure all software is at the most current revision.
- Develops, implements, and maintains a method of documenting control system software and back-ups.
- Implements new system software and modifications.
- Maintains network infrastructure and provides network administration services when integrating new control network connections.
- Initiates Incident Reports of security breaches.
- Ensures NERC/CIP compliance with cyber security is maintained on control systems.
- Performs data retrieval, reporting, and formatting.
- Performs system analysis on current operating control system software, anti-virus software, control system hardware and processes.
- Oversee the alarm management program for process, equipment, safety, quality, maintenance, communication and security alarms by reducing nuisance alarms through prioritization and rationalization.
- Performs database management for the PI System.
- Maintains and configures web server software, hardware, updates and compiles web server pages
- Assists with installation and configuration of field instrumentation for connection with the control systems
- Maintains a master record of revision level for control system logic sheets.
- Maintains high fidelity simulator.
- Identifies and develops solutions to control system software or hardware (including cards and controllers) malfunctions.
- Develops and recommends control system access to key control system equipment.
- Helps with resolving problems requiring design and system information with architects/engineers and crafts.
- Takes a proactive approach regarding personal safety, safety of others, and environmental rules and regulations governing the operation of the plant and complies with all OSHA and SECI safety rules. Must complete all necessary online or classroom safety courses as directed. Must participate in safety briefings and meetings and immediately report any, and all, NERC, safety and environmental reportable incidents.
- Maintains Outside Plant Operator operating skills to support the operation of the plant as required.
- Performs NERC Compliance Program roles if/as designated in Seminole’s Standard Ownership Matrix (SOM) including ongoing evidence retention in “audit-ready” form as applicable and directed. You should also be familiar with Seminole’s Enterprise Internal Compliance Program (ENT-GCD-RGC-EP-054) to further your understanding of Seminole’s compliance program and the context of your duties and responsibilities attendant to your designation in the SOM.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
