We’re looking for a Director, Corporate Accounting to support our Accounting team.
This is a remote position located in Chicago, IL with availability for an average of 1-2 days per week in person meetings.
Position Summary
Excellent opportunity for a Director of Corporate Accounting with expertise in SaaS and professional services revenue recognition to lead our corporate accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience and be skilled in US GAAP with specific focus on revenue recognition, capitalized software, equity valuation, goodwill and purchase accounting. Additionally, the Director of Corporate Accounting is responsible for leading the accounting team through the monthly close process, supports the annual audit, and leads technical accounting projects and research as needed.  The Director of Corporate Accounting reports directly to the Corporate Controller and has a team of 3 direct reports (total team of 4).

What You'll Do

  • Oversee and manage the corporate accounting functions including technical accounting research and adoption of complex accounting issues, general ledger accounting, accounts payable, treasury and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure revenue is recognized in accordance with US GAAP and ASC 606.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with internal controls and external regulations
  • Manage the accounting for capitalized software, including accounting for research and development costs, and ensure compliance with ASC 350 and ASC 985
  • Lead the accounting for stock-based compensation, including stock option accounting and equity-based compensation
  • Lead the preparation of the quarterly lender reporting and analysis
  • Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Oversee the annual audit process and other third-party accounting special projects as needed
  • Provide technical accounting guidance to other departments, including legal, finance, and sales
  • Develop and mentor accounting staff to promote a high-performance culture and build a strong accounting team

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required; CPA
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition including experience with SaaS and multiple-element arrangements, as well as experience with accounting for capitalized software and stock-based compensation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research and interpret complex accounting issues
  • Experience with ERP systems (Netsuite highly desired), general ledger, and financial reporting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships across the organization
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with a focus on developing and mentoring staff
  • Critical thinker with evidence of building scale within an organization
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Advanced Excel skills
