Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is looking for a Director of Software Engineering 2 for the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) Division Engineering organization --with a Software Engineering background and leadership In this role, the selected leader will be responsible for the strategic oversight of 2 functional homeroom directorates driving common engineering processes, tools, and technical developmental and training resources in support of engineering employees and managers across the Division portfolio, and will directly manage 2 Software Engineering directors. This position will be located in Huntsville AL, Roy, UT, Colorado Springs CO or Manhattan Beach CA. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

What You Will Get To Do:

Provide strategic oversight of 2 directorates enabling software engineering execution across the SDS Division portfolio of programs while reporting to the Strategic Deterrent Systems Division’s Engineering Homeroom Vice President.

  • Drive partnership of Functional Homeroom directorates with Segments, Program Management Team and Program Leadership to define and enable execution of the Software statement of work in alignment with the customer SOW
  • Responsible for performance management direct-reports and organizational matrix of 500-1500 staff
  • Responsible for allocation and management of directorate indirect budget for maximum program impact
  • Create and deploy staff training campaign, prioritizing program execution and staff technical/ professional development
  • Technical ownership, compliance enforcement and continuous improvement of domain-related Principles and Operating Practice (PrOP)
  • Oversee promotion, merit/bonus processes for subordinate tech for supported programs, ensuring consistency with sector schedule and guidelines
  • Serve as delegation of authority (DOA) to FHR VP for program, division and/or sector activities as directed

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field and a minimum 10 years of related experience or Masters Degree with 8 years of related experience
  • Experience in a formal management/lead position
  • Extensive CAM/P&L experience
