Position Overview
The Division of Family & Community Services is seeking to hire an energetic and detail-oriented administrator to coordinate and evaluate the administrative aspects of the operations of Region 2 Family and Community Resources Center locations. The position supervises and administers the activities of professional staff providing casework services to applicants seeking public assistance or referrals. The Division helps Illinois residents by connecting them with many programs and services. Through our programs, services and prevention efforts, the Division improves the health and well-being of individuals and promotes self-sufficiency and integrity of families of Illinois.
Job Responsibilities
- Serves as Assistant Regional Administrator (ARA) for a designated region in the Division of Family and Community Services (DFCS).
- Assists the RA in implementing statewide initiatives.
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships between offices and local communities in the assigned areas.
- Serves as full-line supervisor.
- Translates functions/procedures into Spanish for individuals who cannot speak or read English, in contacts with the general public, advocacy groups, customers and community organizations.
- Coordinates with administrators in the assigned area on program initiatives.
- Works in conjunction with investigatory officials concerning sensitive internal investigations into such areas as allegations of fraud, audits of case records and assessments of programs and services to identify improprieties.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college with course work in a social or human services field.
- Requires four (4) years progressively responsible administrative experience in a public welfare system.
- Requires the ability speak, read and write Spanish at a colloquial skill level.
Preferred Qualifications
- Four (4) years of professional supervisory experience assigning work, providing guidance to subordinates, recommending counseling and/or discipline following collective bargaining agreements, training staff and approving time off.
- Four (4) years of professional experience utilizing public and business administrative principles and practices.
- Three (3) years of professional experience working with the program, service objectives, activities, and operations systems of a public or private organization.
- Three (3) years professional experience communicating with both internal and external stakeholders daily ensuring detailed and critical analysis of work performed.
- Four (4) years of professional experience meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail and the ability to utilize critical thinking skills while multi-tasking multiple projects.
- Four (4) years professional experience interpreting and implementing policies, procedures, and goals of public assistance services such as cash, food, and medical assistance programs.
