Position Summary:
Advancia Government Services (a federal government contractor) seeks a qualified full-time Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic with a Master Skill Level. The Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic performs a variety of major repairs and services primarily on heavy equipment tactical, commercial and transport vehicles (class 7 and 8), and leads a small shop of mechanics supporting light, medium and heavy-duty assets (see list below).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
· The Sr. Heavy Equipment Mechanic is under the direct supervision of the Gov’t Maintenance Supervisor and receives guidance from the Gov’t Maintenance Manager
· The Sr. Heavy Equipment Mechanic is the lead mechanic in a small shop that supports a variety of heavy, medium and light duty assets.
· The Sr. Heavy Equipment Mechanic not only performs heavy equipment repairs and services, but he also oversees the repair of heavy, medium and light tactical, commercial and transport vehicles.
· Conducts research and prepares records and forms to reflect essential information
· Ensures all documents are finalized and maintained IAW local regulations
· Performs maintenance repair, rebuild, overhaul, inspect major assemblies and determine repair parts for equipment
· Checks and replaces batteries; rotate, repair and replace tires, pneumatic and flush cooling systems
· Removes, repairs or replaces engines, transmissions and differentials
· Adjusts brakes, replace windshields, wipers and similar components of the same characteristics
· Performs major overhauls by disassembling, cleaning, and replacing faulty components IAW appropriate procedures
· Repairs components such as generators, water/hydraulic pumps and electrical system
· Performs routine and extensive maintenance on diesel engines, fuel and exhaust systems, and electrical wiring
· Performs diagnostic tests using measuring devices, instruments, test equipment or special tools
· Required to dismantle components for internal examination of damage or excessive wear
· Operates and utilizes an assortment of tools to perform repairs that include power, pneumatic, and machinery such as grinding machines, presses, torch-cutting equipment, jacks and hoists to lift and move large components
· Required to add critical or explanatory notations on completed maintenance documents following equipment repair and testing IAW AFI 24-302.
