About the role

Overview

This position is home based, carries a caseload that includes both investigations and assessments that requires field work to include home visits.  The position supervisors APS investigators that carry a combination of investigations and assessments.  The successful candidate needs to have a basic understanding of investigative techniques as well as strong assessment skills and a knowledge of community supports.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in a variety of settings, including standard office setting or in the field, including individuals' homes and residential care settings. Considerable field travel is required for which private means of transportation must be available. An incumbent predictably will encounter high level stress and emotional situations, strong differences of opinion, and potentially threatening situations.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in social work, gerontology/aging, disabilities, psychology, criminal justice, or closely related field AND one (1) year or more of experience at a professional level in social work or psychology with a focus on aging and/or disability services, a health care related field, or law enforcement or similar professional role that included significant investigatory responsibilities.

 

OR

 

Bachelor's degree AND three (3) years or more of experience at a professional level in social work or psychology with a focus on aging and/or disability services, a health care related field, or law enforcement or similar professional role that included significant investigatory responsibilities.

 

OR

 

Associate's degree AND five (5) years or more of experience at a professional level in social work or psychology with a focus on aging and/or disability services, a health care related field, or law enforcement or similar professional role that included significant investigatory responsibilities.

 

OR

 

High School diploma or equivalent AND seven (7) year or more of experience at a professional level in social work or psychology with a focus on aging and/or disability services, a health care related field, or law enforcement or similar professional role that included significant investigatory responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in investigative, legal, or law enforcement services.

Special Requirements

Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.
