During your internship at PICO, you will help enhance our VR products by innovating creative solutions to engineering challenges by statistically modeling complex datasets. Our goal is to deliver the most realistic VR experiences possible by optimizing engineering trade-offs according to user experience. Competitive candidates will be those with proven experience in statistical modeling of complex datasets and a strong knowledge of optimization techniques. Experience with human psychophysics, vision science, or adaptive experimentation is a plus.

We are seeking a talented and innovative Optical Engineer to join our team, specializing in the design and evaluation of ophthalmic lenses. In this role, you will play a key role in developing an optical evaluation framework to design and assess different ophthalmic lenses (including tuable lens), ensuring optimal performance and enhanced visual perception for users.



Responsibilities:

- Design and optimize ophthalmic lenses using advanced optical design software (e.g., Zemax).

- Develop theoretical, optical modeling and simulation pipelines to evaluate lens performance across various lens designs and frame-wearing positions (e.g., pantoscopic tilt, wrap angle) from both optical and human vision/perception perspectives.

- Develop metrology testing tools to assess ophthalmic lens performance and validate results against simulation and modeling data to ensure accuracy.
