Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Work Leader - without more than normal supervision. Experience leading a work team, able to plan and independently perform tasks in the areas of maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, heavy equipment operation and operating and maintaining pumping plants and irrigation systems, and able to work as part of a crew and to assume responsibility for leading in the accomplishment of tasks. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Works in tiring or in uncomfortable positions for long periods. The work requires frequent standing, bending, crouching, kneeling and climbing. May work on ladder, scaffolds, or platforms and where the parts of systems worked on are in hard to reach places. Frequently lifts and carries tools and equipment weighing up to 45 lbs and occasionally items weighing more with assistance of material lifting devices or other workers. WORKING CONDITIONS: Maintenance work is normally performed outside with exposure to wide variations in weather and temperature. Incumbent is exposed to potential injury form power tools and danger from flying objects, cuts and scrapes, is exposed to traffic hazards while driving on both improved and unimproved road surfaces. May work in cramped quarters and in, over or near water. May occasionally make repairs when noxious fumes are present. There is exposure to insect, spider and snakebites.
