Business Unit Overview

This position is part of Novanta’s Corporate and Shared Services global teams.  Novanta’s Corporate and Shared Services teams play an important role in executing the company’s strategic mission and operations.  Included in Corporate and Shared Services are the business functions including Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal, Compliance, Corporate Development and Corporate Marketing.  The Corporate and Shared Services teams work closely with all Novanta business units to support operating initiatives contributing to the organization’s financial success.

Summary

The Senior Manager, Talent & Performance plays a pivotal role in driving effective performance, growth and success of Novanta’s global workforce by designing, cultivating, and delivering talent strategies that enhance performance, strengthen organizational culture, and foster a diverse talent pipeline.

This role works closely with senior leadership and other stakeholders to ensure the organization is aligned with its strategic objectives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as the thought leader and subject matter expert for the discipline of talent management.
  • Drive talent planning processes across Novanta: including establishing a talent planning rigor and cadence, facilitating talent planning sessions, and tracking talent movement and actions.
  • Implement performance management strategies to support continuous dialogue and balanced performance discussions.
  • Develop and deliver tools, resources and training for employees and managers.
  • Partner with HR leaders and business leaders to ensure Novanta has strong leaders and succession bench for senior level and critical roles across the organization.
  • Develop talent dashboards and standard reporting to drive transparency and accountability.
  • Partner with HR teams to develop and deploy initiatives across the employee lifecycle that support employee experience and engagement.

Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies

  • 7-10 years of experience in Human Resources preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of talent and succession planning, performance management, organization development and design, and leadership assessment processes.
  • Experience with Workday or other relevant HR system
  • Intellectual curiosity and passion around talent and leader development
  • Proven ability to develop and execute talent strategies and solutions
  • Poise, polish, and communication skills commensurate with engaging with senior level business leaders
  • Big picture thinker who can also be highly detail oriented; ability to think strategically combined with a hard wiring to execute
  • Drive to deliver results, accountability and ownership of work, and operate with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Agile and rigorous problem solver with ability to drive and embrace change
  • High energy, self-starter who can work independently and within a team environment
