Overview
The Legal Intern offers a valuable opportunity for college students who are interested in pursuing a legal career and are contemplating going to law school to gain real-world experience within a corporate legal environment. Interns will collaborate with seasoned legal professionals on matters involving legal administration, document and advertising review, research, and corporate governance. This position is designed to provide exposure to the day-to-day operations of an in-house legal department, while building foundational skills for a career in law, risk management, or compliance.
This internship will provide an opportunity to:
- Gain practical experience in research, the operation and function of a legal department, contract administration and compliance monitoring.
- Develop an understanding of corporate governance and contract lifecycle management.
- Assist with reviewing template agreements, NDAs, and internal policies and organizing frequently used documents.
- Learn professional conduct while dealing with other business units.
- Enhance writing, issue spotting, and analytical skills in a business context.
- Observe cross-functional collaboration between legal, finance, HR, and the various other departments, including the business units.
Responsibilities
- Assist with case management, including organization of legal files.
- Help track and manage contract lifecycle and support document retention initiatives.
- Support due diligence and document preparation for subpoena responses.
- Assist in administrative tasks as needed.
- Assist with internal process improvement projects to enhance legal workflows.
- Maintain and update legal templates and internal resource libraries.
- Help coordinate communications with external counsel, vendors, and business units.
Qualifications
- Rising Junior or Senior college student pursuing an undergraduate degree.
- Demonstrated interest in corporate, contract, or regulatory law.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Summer Internship Details:
- Compensation: The hourly rate is $18/hr.
- Duration: The internship program spans approximately 10 weeks, running from June 2nd to August 15th, 2025.
- Work Arrangement: This is a hybrid position, requiring interns to be in the office in Montvale, NJ, four days a week (Monday to Thursday), with Fridays designated for remote work at the manager's discretion.
- Transportation: Since the office location in Montvale, NJ, is not accessible by public transportation, interns must have reliable transportation.
- Housing: We do not provide housing or a housing stipend for interns.
- Work Visa: Unfortunately, we do not offer work visa sponsorship for this role, including participation in Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT), and F-1 Visa programs.
