Job Description:

Wayfair Basics is the customer-facing manifestation of Wayfair’s Commodity SKUs, which is part of the strategic plan that will support Wayfair’s path to $100B in annual revenue.  We are looking to hire a Merchant to help drive this initiative.  In this role, the Merchant will be responsible for contributing to the growth of our WFBS brand. Daily responsibilities include overseeing a tightly curated assortment across key commodity categories, conducting product merchandising sprints, curating new product intros, managing the assortment plans for their respective categories, and aligning with internal teams on brand development goals. This role provides significant exposure to one of Wayfair’s strategic initiatives. Top performers will have a chance to progress their career further within the merchandising & buying organization. The most successful Exclusive Brands Merchants are those who are driven, tenacious, outgoing, and have an equal passion for both business and process. Merchants must be expert multi-taskers, have an acute focus on detail, and manage their workload in a highly-organized way. Responsibilities include: 

  • Directly manage the category assortment plan for a subset of categories across Soft Home, Storage & Org, Tabletop, Decor, Home Improvement, and Office for the WFBS business 
  • Develop and drive a strategic merchandising assortment plan 
  • Oversee the portfolio of suppliers; develop WFBS specific strategies and drive negotiation results in collaboration with cross-functional CM team 
  • Support management and development of Wayfair’s WFBS brand
  • Forge and expand strong internal relationships within EB and the broader CMPB organization to drive category performance
  • Identify assortment gaps in WFBS catalog within the FSB; work with suppliers to fill gaps
  • Develop and maintain industry knowledge; stay on top of category and market trends
  • Attend key trade shows, own supplier relationships, work closely with CM and SIM on SKU level scorecards

  • Able to juggle many projects at many stages of development at one time
  • Highly organized
  • Excel proficiency a must; Familiarity with SQL or Looker a plus
  • 3-5+ years of experience
