The Need
For 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence by 2030, we are seeking a Sr. Designer, North America.
The Sr. Designer reports to the Director, Creative and Digital (North America) and provides design support on campaign, content creation, and experience initiatives across the North America region to catalyze a revolution in North America that fuels the movement and raises awareness of IJM’s work to rescue millions, protect half a billion and make justice unstoppable.
This role sits within the larger Creative & Digital team and acts as an essential part of bringing creative strategy and projects to life.
This position requires fresh creative thinking and proven success in creating visuals and campaigns to drive audiences to action. This role requires a breadth of design knowledge and ability to build designs for print, digital, wireframing and other important assets such as icons, infographics and social media.
This position is hybrid (onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays) if located in the Washington, DC area or remote for non-local candidates. There is a preference for candidates located on the East Coast in the United States. It reports to the Director, Creative and Digital Services and is only available for candidates with the right to work in the US.

Overarching Design Needs: This position will deliver exceptional design services to support marketing and communications, fundraising and digital projects, and have the ability to work on a variety of projects as they arise.
Digital Design: This position may be required to conceptualize, develop and design emails, social media posts, wireframes and digital experiences on IJM digital platforms. Please note, this does not include front-end design execution.
Event Design: This position will provide support to the Experience team in the development of live experiences, presentations, exhibits and merchandise for key IJM NA events.
Data Informed, User Focused Innovation: Implement latest and developing design trends to keep IJM fresh and top-of-mind for North America audience. Adapt and implement changes to increase responsiveness to creative based on data.
Design Innovation: This position provides insights into design and industry trends and will be called on from time to time to share these within larger groups.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Strategy & Knowledge Development & Implementation
Develop and execute on creative and visual concepts that align with IJM’s North America Strategy;
Work with other Senior Designers, Creative Leads and Creative Director to develop design assets for IJM NA stakeholders, including communicating design choices and strategies to creative leaders as needed;
Keep up-to-date on print, digital and social design trends as well as learn any new tools/programs for creative work; and
Along with design execution responsibilities, this role will work with Senior Creative leads and designers, to provide conceptual and design execution throughout all phases of projects; and
The Sr. Designer is responsible for sending work for revisions, implementing feedback from appropriate stakeholders, and finalizing designs.
Networking & Partnership
Ability to collaborate with multiple creatives, teams and external contractors while maintaining good relations
Communication
Create a range of print materials and digital experiences to communicate IJM’s work to our audiences;
Print materials range from flyers, posters, magazines, photocards, envelopes, large-scale graphics, merchandise, illustration, etc.;
Digital experiences include social media (organic and paid), landing pages, and giving forms;
Uses appropriate channels (Teamwork, MS Teams, in-person meetings, emails)
