WORK WEEK SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position is eligible for hybrid telework workweek

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

In collaboration with the Director of the Central Carolina Teaching Initiative (CCTI): Wake-Durham oversees all Educator Preparation Program (EPP) components to include recruiting, training, coaching, licensing, and retaining a diverse, high-quality teacher pipeline committed to serving students and communities. Leads the integration of the CCTI EPP into the Human Resource (HR) structures within both the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) and their partner district Durham Public Schools (DPS). Serves as liaison between partner districts to develop the strategic vision and implementation of a “grow-your own” diverse, high-quality educator pipeline. Manages the day-to-day operations of the EPP. Develops the coaching team capacity for effective remote coaching. Works with the curriculum team to support training aligned to residency licensure requirements. Communicates on a regular basis with district departments, educators, and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI.) Monitors and analyzes program data for review and program improvement.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs) 

  • Extensive knowledge of adult professional learning design and facilitation;

  • Extensive knowledge of best instructional practices and the needs of beginning educators;

  • Considerable knowledge of curriculum and curriculum design across multiple content areas, including standards-alignment; 

  • Extensive knowledge of North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards; 

  • Extensive knowledge of the educator licensure process, regulations, and requirements;

  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point; Google Apps; Canvas;

  • Excellent customer service skills;

  • Excellent organizational skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills;

  • Ability to design and deliver professional development to adult learners;

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;

  • Ability to lead and motivate staff;

  • Ability to perform data analysis;

  • Ability to use a systems approach to assess program needs and develop long and short-term plans;

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, external agencies, and the community.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in education, school administration, or related field;

  • Five years of successful teaching experience; 

  • Experience in planning and delivering professional development to adult learners;

  • Leadership experience in district training, coaching, development of educators;

  • Instructional coaching and/or mentoring experience.

 

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Hold or be qualified to hold a NC Professional Educator License in content teaching area;

  • Hold or be eligible for North Carolina Professional Educator’s license in an administrative license area of School Administrator-Principal or Curriculum Instructional Specialist;

  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the state of NC requirements. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in HR within public education;

  • Experience planning, developing, and implementing curriculum across multiple content areas;

  • Data collection and analysis experience.
