The Opportunity

B&V Federal seeks an enthusiastic, articulate, motivated Project/Construction Manager(s) to manage projects primarily for Federal Government clients. Projects most likely include design of new or renovated facilities such as BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratories, research facilities, hospitals, and other scientific facilities, and infrastructure such as, complex controls, electrical power distribution, commissioning and central utilities. A priority for our team is expanding our Federal A/E areas of focus using a variety of contract vehicles, including Architecture/Engineering (A/E) IDIQ, MATOC, SATOC and MACC (D/B) for Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Centers for Disease Control  (CDC), National Institutes of Health (NIH), US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and other Federal components.

 

The successful candidate will demonstrate successful experience with clients delivering A/E programs and projects, including management of geographically dispersed, multi-disciplinary, collaborative project design teams comprised of engineers, architects, and designers. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in managing facilities and infrastructure projects for Federal agencies, including developing qualifications packages, negotiating fixed price task orders, and delivering both full design projects and design-build requests for proposals (RFP’s).

 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Manage all aspects of small to medium Design and Construction Services projects, including risk to cost, schedule, and quality
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day successful execution of contracted engineering, procurement, and construction phase service scopes in the areas of performance, financial metrics, planning, schedule, quality, contractual compliance, safety, and client satisfaction.
  • Manage and lead small teams of multi-discipline professionals
  • Identify requirements for the successful staffing of the project and coordinates staffing with discipline Department Managers
  • Coordinate and integrate the activities associated with the engineering, procurement, construction phase services, commissioning, and operations and maintenance (O&M) elements of the project, including the activities of all third-party companies contributing to a project
  • Support business capture processes by leading proposal teams for the successful response to client requests for proposal
  • Support many aspects of Business Development in a “seller doer” role with an emphasis on client satisfaction and repeat business
  • Actively lead Black & Veatch’s participation in the Federal CPARS contractor evaluation system which is key to qualifying for future work with all Government entities.

Typical client base includes:

  • Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Centers for Disease Control  (CDC), National Institutes of Health (NIH), US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and many private companies in the Federal arena where Black & Veatch frequently teams for project execution in joint venture (JV) roles or utilizes a sub/prime contracting arrangement.
