Your New Role   

Overview of the internships 

We have multiple CNN Specialty Teams internship opportunities available. By applying to this posting, you will be considered for multiple internship opportunities within this general area. These internships will be located in the ATL area. The selected interns will be expected to join us in the office on a regular cadence based on the intern manager’s in office schedule. 

Example internship opportunities could include: 

• CNN Sports Intern

• CNN Health Intern

• CNN Weather Intern

Your Role Accountabilities 

Duties could include: 

• Learn how TV and text stories are crafted

• Learn how we vet stories and research

• Learn how a story goes from an idea to a script, through edit and onto TV or the website

• Develop research and interview skills

• Contribute to and write stories for CNN TV and CNN.com

Qualifications & Experience 

Essentials needed for the positions that are similar across the above roles (these do not all have to apply to every single role)  

• Passionate about news, self-motivated and able to multitask

• Experience in news writing is a must, and experience in medical news or the field of health and science is ideal

• Writing experience with work samples, including published bylines, is required. Please include links to your published bylines and/or your writing portfolio on your resume.

• Positive attitude and ability to function well in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

• A keen understanding of how to spot and tell a great news story

• Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required)  

• Must be a rising Junior or Senior or Graduate Student (18 years or older)  

• Must be in academic good standing (3.0 or above GPA) A transcript will be required to verify your GPA if an offer is extended.
