Job Description
Primary Function of Position:
The Sr. Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the production activities within a designated area or department. They will lead a team of production personnel, ensure adherence to quality standards, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and contribute to the development and implementation of manufacturing strategies.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a team of production personnel, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient and effective operations
- Coordinate and prioritize production activities to meet production schedules and customer demands
- Monitor and analyze production metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance productivity and efficiency
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to address production issues and minimize downtime
- Utilize lean tools such as PDCA (A3), Value Stream Map, and kaizen to initiate and implement process improvements
- Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) and blueprinting requirements for the development or updates of business systems
- Review, approve, and create engineering change orders (ECOs) to determine their impact on manufacturing processes
- Ensure compliance with quality system requirements, including CFR and ISO standards, and actively participate in CAPA/CPIP and ARF activities
- Lead cross-functional projects, set goals, and drive meetings to achieve desired outcomes
- Analyze manufacturing metrics, identify trends, and escalate or drive issue resolution as needed
- Perform capacity analysis and create accurate production plans to meet demand requirements
- Create and communicate goals effectively, motivate the team, and recognize outstanding performance
- Identify and develop emerging leaders, mentor individuals, and promote individual growth through individual development plans (IDPs)
- Promote individual responsibility and fast decision-making aligned with business needs and priorities
- Share past experiences and lessons learned, implement corrective actions, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
- Collaborate with other departments, such as Engineering and Quality, to resolve production issues and implement process enhancements
Qualifications
Skill/Job Requirements:
- Minimum Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience. 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Minimum of 2 years as a Production Supervisor and meet the requirements above in roles and responsibilities
- Advanced degree (e.g., Masters or PhD) can contribute to years of experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and MRP systems
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and tools
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
