About the opportunity

The Director, Curriculum Administration and Timetabling will be responsible for delivering key strategic priorities for curriculum administration and timetabling under the Chief Faculty Experience Officer (CFEO). The position forms part of the CFEO’s leadership team and will deliver an uplift to the administrative management and annual collection of the curriculum, working in close collaboration with Faculties and the DVCE portfolio enabling the Academic Model Team to execute an accurate and timely curriculum collection ready for scheduling and publication.

The Director will drive continuous improvement of the curriculum timetabling, including implementation of review outcomes and engagement with Faculties and Students to improve practices that enable an early release of the annual timetable and subsequent processes such as teaching allocations. The impact of this leadership role will drive an uplift in student experience for more than 70,000 University of Sydney students and contribute to CFEO’s ongoing efforts to enhance the service experience and deliver positive results across the student lifecycle.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • lead the development, articulation and implementation of the vision and strategy across the curriculum and timetabling teams, ensuring key priorities are met
  • lead and project manage initiatives that positively impact the student lifecycle, faculty engagement and student satisfaction ratings
  • manage the performance and development of the team and oversee the allocation of work, completion of PP&D’s and effective division of workload, identifying training and development opportunities as required
  • establish and implement outcome-focused approaches, maximising the application of insights from data, stakeholder consultation, benchmarking, other information
  • assist the CFEO in the review, co-design, and implementation of a new planning frameworks, complementary to the management of curriculum and timetabling, including effective change management, transformative plans, budget, and resources
  • prepare and present strategic discussion papers on a broad range of enrolment and administrative curriculum issues for Executive review
  • lead overall project organisation and establishment across the curriculum and timetabling teams
  • identify, implement, develop, and manage the administrative systems and practices, ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures
  • establish, monitor, and report on project and operational planning, in a strategic and proactive manner
  • apply high level influencing skills to build and manage stakeholders and collaborate with teams to ensure deliverables and key targets are achieved
  • contributes to the CFEO Leadership Team, providing insights, recommendations, and coordination of collaborative projects, stakeholder engagement and service demands

About you

  • demonstrated experience in the supervision, training, mentoring and performance management of staff
  • proven strategic and operational planning skills, including the ability to develop and monitor operational business plans, to establish and monitor key performance targets and to effectively allocate resources to ensure operational and service delivery goals are met
  • experience managing a diverse group of key internal/external stakeholders on large or complex projects
  • experience project managing multiple work streams, or leading complex projects and ability to work against strict deadlines and manage various demands
  • excellent program management and planning skills
  • previously worked in the higher education/tertiary sector or a complex, multi-faceted organisation.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the reasons for the position.
