Senior Software Engineer

Overview

This position will be based at our Virginia Beach, VA location. 

 

ECPI University is seeking Senior Software Engineer with strong understanding of applications development. Develops information systems by studying operations: designing, developing, and installing multiplatform software solutions.  Supports and helps develop software team.

Responsibilities

• Develops software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes
• Investigating problem areas, Utilizes current Software development lifecycle methodologies.
• Determines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
• Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.
• Prepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
• Improves operations by conducting systems analysis, recommending changes in policies and procedures.
• Updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment, participating in educational opportunities.
• Protects operations by keeping information confidential
• Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues.
• Accomplishes engineering and organization mission by completing related results as needed
• Supports and develops software engineers by providing advice, coaching and educational opportunities.
• Handles multiple projects concurrently
• Demonstrates excellent organizational/time management, planning and prioritization skills.
• All other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Education/Experience

• Four-year college degree in Information Science, Computer Science, Software, Engineering, or other relevant combination of training and comparable work experience. Masters is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years work experience in the field.

 

Skills/Abilities

• Knowledge of layout principles and aesthetic design concepts.
• Proficient with commonly used programming Design concepts, practices and procedures.
• Proficient with creating APIs and services using REST, SOAP, etc.
• Proficient with Mobile Application development, IOS and Android
• Expert at HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, and JavaScript
• Expert with MS Visual Studio C#, MVC, and Entity Framework
• Expert with MS SQL, DML, DDL and server administration
• Proficient with IIS
• Experienced at mentoring, leading and training other developers
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
