Job Summary and Qualifications

Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Regional Accounting Controller is responsible for having a detailed knowledge of Vaco’s financial and accounting systems and connections to operational systems. They will assist the VP of Finance in developing/compiling/analyzing statistical data, identifying trends, formulating conclusions, and preparing complete and accurate financial statements and statistical reports supporting Vaco’s executive decision-making processes. The Regional Accounting Controller will serve as a financial controller for location-level operations and be a mentor for staff and senior accountants.

 

The Regional Accounting Controller is a finance leader who will act as a liaison with all relevant stakeholders: (Location Managing Partners, FP&A, Operations management, Regional Accounting Controller peer group, and beyond) to meet the Vaco strategic and operational goals for Finance and the Vaco organization as well as ensuring consistently high quality and timely group/business reporting for the respective Vaco locations.

Duties Include but Are Not Limited To:

  • Serve as a business partner with Operations Management to provide financial insight and support required to influence financial decisions to improve top-line and bottom-line growth within the respective location operations in a fast-paced business environment.
  • Ownership of matters pertaining to financial operations for respective locations, including managing the location P&L, financial reporting and analysis, producer compensation, bonus and commission analysis, ad hoc projects, revenue, and gross margin analysis, and partnering with FP&A to assist with budgeting and EBITDA forecasting to support the needs of the respective location operations.
  • Proactively monitor the quality of the financial statements (balance sheets, statements of income, statements of cash flow) for the respective reporting entities.
  • Participate in monthly and annual closing cycles, general ledger accounting and reconciliation review, budget review, and internal controls.
  • Provide accurate and timely preparation, processing, distribution, and retention of all financial reports.
  • Must be able to budget and manage multiple large P&Ls and financial/operating KPIs.
  • Analyze standard monthly financial and statistical reports for Finance and Operations and recommend analytical or operational changes to maximize the financial and operational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Analyze locations and their operational indicators to determine best practices as well as areas for improvement, developing processes for new business offerings.
  • Keep fully informed on all relevant developments in the operating locations and divisions, determine the accounting impact (if any), and ensure such developments are properly reflected in financial statements.
  • Participate in monthly and annual closing cycles, general ledger accounting and reconciliation review, budget review, and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Accounting Controller peer group
  • Select, train, motivate, and evaluate personnel to ensure the quality of service and technical expertise.

 

Leadership

  • Develop and improve leadership, business partnering, and accounting capabilities of the finance group by providing technical training.
  • Take initiative and responsibility for strategic and tactical decision-making on continuously improving finance operations processes by interacting with other processes and functions across Vaco.
  • Proactively inform the relevant stakeholders of the outcome of the financial statement review and indicate potential risks and opportunities on treatments, processes, or interactions to ensure quality financial statements.
  • Initiate and implement cross-departmental improvements with finance and bring these to the attention of the Finance group for discussion and organization-wide consistency.

 

Required Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (master’s preferred). At least 6+ years of relevant work experience and experience in a financial support role emphasizing reporting and analysis is critical. Experience worki
