- Role and responsibilities
The purpose of a Finance Officer position is to implement delegated areas of responsibility. The following is a brief description of the role:
Generic responsibilities
- Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
- Ensure adherence to donors’ financial rules and regulations
- Responsible for organising and delivery of tasks in line with priorities and standards
- Implement delegated finance function portfolio according to plan of action
- Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
- Promote and share ideas for improvement of the finance function
- Use initiative in day to day problem-solving in line with agreed procedures, priorities and standards for the area of work
Specific responsibilities
- Follow up with logistics on payments and deadlines
- Revise and post petty cash payments and bank transfer payments on a weekly basis, and check all supporting documents of all payments to make sure that they are complete, correct, and in compliance with NRC rules and regulations
- Prepare invoice posting, post back tools, and Fair Share allocation.
- Prepare salary posting after receiving project allocations.
- Review and post all Gaza transactions
- Responsible for weekly and monthly bank reconciliation for Gaza office
- Take responsibility for the month-end closure, including the BRS and submit it to the finance coordinator
- Prepare Gaza staff timesheets monthly
- Prepare all Gaza transactions’ reallocation post-backs in close coordination with the finance coordinator
- Responsible for posting Gaza partners’ PRs.
- Cooperate with Finance assistant on filling and SSD securing documents.
- Follow up with country office Finance Coordinator on international payments to clear accounts monthly.
- Undertake any other reasonable task assigned by management
- Assist a range of support with the implementation of the Finance portfolio according to plan of action

- Experience working as a Finance Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Good command of English and Arabic, both written and verbal
Context/ Specific skills, knowledge, and experience:
- Bachelor Degree in accounting, finance, business, or any other related fields
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in working in a similar role
- Good Knowledge of the Palestinian taxation law
- Ability to work under pressure
- Highest standards of ethics and integrity and attention to detail
