SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a career service, sworn Inspector position assigned to the Office of Inspector General as an Evidence Inspector and will be responsible for the following duties but are not limited to:
- Handles, Logs, Secures, Moves, Transports and Delivers OIG property and OIG evidence to and from locations, including evidence rooms, correctional institutions, Police/ Sheriff/Federal Laboratories, Clerk of the Courts, State Attorney Offices, and other law enforcement agencies.
- Ensures proper packaging of evidence items, according to FDLE guidelines, prior to accepting items for proper storage and retention.
- Conducts inventories and provides chain of custody documentation involving property and evidence.
- Maintains computerized reports and/or logs evidence and property information.
- Operates computer terminal to input and retrieve information to ascertain the disposition of cases.
- Other duties as assigned, by the Statewide Evidence Supervisor.
- Could include managing multiple region evidence rooms.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a valid Correctional Officer, Correctional Probation Office Certification as issued from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission;
