Industrial Designer Sr

Job Information

As a Senior Designer at Doosan Bobcat Global Design Studio, you will be responsible for developing premium product styling and operator experiences for the Doosan Bobcat brand globally. In this role, you will partner with marketing, product management, engineering and sourcing to deliver world-class design proposals from research and strategy through concept, development and execution. In this role, you are accountable for the creative and technical detailed designs to enable successful project design implementation. The individual who assumes this role is creative with a talent identifying future trends and tastes.

Role & Responsibility

• Work closely with Industrial Design Team, Engineering and New Product Development teams to bring products to life that build and strengthen our Brand DNA
• Taking products from concept through to production in close collaboration with engineering teams, product management, marketing, and suppliers
• Understand the competition and future trends
• Develop and oversee concepts and mockups to final designs for NPD that aligns to Bobcat DNA, optimizes UX/UI, manufacturability and cost
• Developing designs that push our visual and user experience into new territories
• Understand our customer's core needs and values, motivations and aspirations and use these as a compass for product development
• Keep a strong focus on prototyping – every product we develop should go beyond what exists today. Prototyping early and often will promote learning, iteration and refinement of ideas
• Mentor and grow your direct reports – give them clear objectives, deadlines and goals. Coach them on process and relationships
• Must be self-motivated, adaptable, flexible, and able to multi-task
• Work seamlessly with our engineering design team to ensure smooth hand-offs
• Generate unique product concepts + IP
• Always be looking for ways to add value to our team beyond your job description
• Look outside our industry for inspiration
• Exhibit a forward thinking and collaborative approach to design
• Strong communication skills and ability to effectively portray your ideas
   

Job Requirement

• Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Industrial design, Graphic design, or related design discipline. Master's degree in Transportation, Industrial Design, or Graphic Design or equivalent preferred
• 7+ years of experience industrial design
• Rockstar technical skills (sketching, renderings, CAS systems)
• Portfolio demonstrating your ability to create a range of impactful product designs and strategies
• Have a solid background of the Compact Equipment industry and product portfolio offered by Bobcat.
• High taste level + deep understanding of design language
• A seasoned understanding of how things work and are manufactured
• Strong knowledge of design process + time/project management
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation + communication skills
• Excellent ability to communicate with global and cross-functional teams to plan, execute and problem solve during the product development process
• Proven ability to mentor and develop skills in others
• Ability to thrive in a place of rapid growth + change
• Experience using Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, Autodesk Alias, Keyshot or Vred, and CAD surface modeling (Creo)
• Experience inside of heavy or compact equipment is a plus
• Experience with VR is a plus
