Under direct oversight of Clinical Engineering staff, assists with performing tasks related to equipment inspections, repairs and maintenance. Other duties include participation in special projects, regulatory compliance activities and technical assistance in clinical settings.

  • Performs inspections of patient care equipment following manufacturer recommended procedures.

  • Performs repairs to medical equipment, logically troubleshooting and problem solving.

  • Utilizes test equipment properly to troubleshoot issues and/or completes preventive maintenance inspections.

  • Performs preparation (including unboxing, staging, testing) of new and/or repurposed equipment and installations for special projects.

  • Performs appropriate and accurate documentation of inspections and repairs.

  • Assists with performance improvement projects and quality activities.

Education

Currently enrolled in and senior status in an accredited undergraduate biomedical engineering program

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Exhibits guiding behaviors that reflect Children’s values and support our mission and vision.

  • Analytical ability to organize work, good communication skills, ability to pay close attention to detail and proficient computer skills.

  • Provides services in a setting where there is potential for exposure to blood and other high risk body fluids, chemotherapy agents, communicable disease and hazardous materials, chemicals, and waste.

  • Lift 20lbs frequently, 50lbs occasionally up to 100lbs

  • Ability to walk, occasionally lift heavy equipment and climb to ceiling height in the course of performing duties.
