We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative Director of Product Development Scientist (Vitamins & Dietary Supplements) to join our dynamic team. As the Director, you will be responsible for leading and managing the product development process, from concept to commercialization, ensuring the successful launch of high-quality and innovative products in the Vitamins & Dietary Supplements industry. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including research and development, marketing, regulatory affairs, and operations, to drive product excellence and meet business objectives.

Responsibilities:

Product Development Strategy:

  • Develop and execute the overall product development strategy for Vitamins & Dietary Supplements, aligning with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Identify market trends, consumer insights, and competitive landscape to drive product innovation and differentiation.
  • Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify new product opportunities and gaps in the market.
  • Collaborate with the research and development team to translate scientific research into product concepts and formulations.

Project Management and Execution:

  • Lead and oversee the end-to-end product development process, ensuring timely and successful project execution.
  • Create and manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to achieve project milestones and deliverables.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including research and development, marketing, regulatory affairs, and operations, to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Conduct regular project status meetings and provide updates to senior management on progress, challenges, and recommendations.

Formulation Development and Optimization:

  • Provide scientific expertise and guidance in the development and optimization of product formulations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with the research and development team to design and conduct stability testing, sensory evaluation, and other relevant studies to assess product quality and performance.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve existing product formulations through ingredient sourcing, formulation optimization, and manufacturing process enhancements.

Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure that all products comply with relevant regulatory guidelines, safety standards, and quality control measures.
  • Collaborate with the quality assurance and regulatory affairs teams to develop and implement robust quality assurance processes and procedures.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations, changes in legislation, and emerging trends to ensure compliance and mitigate potential risks.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead and inspire a team of product development scientists, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages creativity, teamwork, and continuous learning.
  • Identify skill gaps within the team and develop training programs to enhance technical expertise and knowledge.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry) is required. Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in product development within the Vitamins & Dietary Supplements industry.
  • Previous product development experience at a top tier vitamins & supplements company prior
  • Strong knowledge of vitamins, minerals, and dietary supplements, including formulation principles, ingredient interactions, and regulatory requirements.
