TEGNA is seeking a proactive and business-savvy HR Business Partner (HRBP) to join our dynamic team and contribute to the success of an innovative media company. In this role, you will support key HR functions including employee relations, leadership development, performance management, and employee engagement.
As an HRBP, you'll be a trusted advisor to leadership teams, aligning HR strategies with business objectives to create a high-performance culture that is inclusive and employee-centric. Note: This position is based at our station, KPNX in Phoenix, with moderate travel to support additional client groups.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with leadership teams to drive organizational change, cultural transformation, performance and accountability, talent management and other strategic initiatives.
- Provide expert guidance and coaching to managers and employees on employee relations, performance management, career development, talent acquisition and retention.
- Partner with station leadership to drive a results-driven, accountable and inclusive workplace.
- Work closely with HR colleagues and business leaders to address key HR functions such as recruitment, performance management, restructuring, coaching, training, and other initiatives.
- Manage special HR projects, share best practices, and foster a culture of continuous improvement within HR.
- Oversee workers' compensation, legal issues, and disability claims in partnership with appropriate stakeholders.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, change-driven environment, balancing operational needs with strategic goals while maintaining flexibility and composure under pressure.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience as an HR Generalist or HRBP, with a proven track record in a similar role.
- Proven track record of providing strategic advice to leadership on a wide array of HR and people-related issues.
- Strong communication skills, adept at simplifying complex information and fostering meaningful relationships across all organizational levels.
- Exceptional conflict resolution, presentation, and coaching skills.
- Ability to quickly build rapport and influence key stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Proven experience in managing multiple priorities and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong ethical standards and a commitment to integrity in all HR practices.
- Familiarity with federal, state and local employment laws.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HR-related software/tools.
