Description
The University of Iowa Department of Athletics seeks applications for an Equipment Room Intern. This is a full-time (temporary, PZ04 intern, and FLSA nonexempt) for one year, with the opportunity to be extended to two years determined by performance and departmental need. The University of Iowa is an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Big Ten Conference. The Department of Athletics manages 22 varsity sports programs and related events with a workforce of approximately 250 regular employees and 300 temporary employees. Responsibilities: The Athletics Equipment Room Intern will contribute to the daily operations of the Jacobson Athletic Building and Carver‑Hawkeye Arena Equipment Operations department, which provides comprehensive support for multiple Olympic sports and men’s and women’s basketball. The internship is designed to help participants develop the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to pursue a professional‑level position within or beyond the University of Iowa. The Equipment Room Intern will gain hands‑on experience across multiple University of Iowa Equipment Operations locations and will assist with ordering athletic equipment and apparel; preparing locker rooms for home competitions; ensuring timely completion of gameday and practice laundry while helping maintain laundry equipment; maintaining athletic equipment; receiving and processing equipment and apparel shipments; and supporting the supervision and scheduling of student workers. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to work effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships;
Working knowledge of and ability to:
- Effectively use office support software, (word processing, email, presentation software and spreadsheets)
- Operate effectively within a highly regulated team environment.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week which may include evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
- A valid driving license and the ability to meet and maintain University of Iowa Driving Policy standards.
