Job Title: Student Assistant – Bytes Advanced Cook, S26
Reports to: Dustin Nick
Have cooking experience? For the first time ever, Bytes is looking for an Advanced Cook to join our student team! We are looking for a student with real kitchen experience who enjoys preparing great food and working as part of a collaborative team. Weekend availability is required, along with flexible weekday hours.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes and quality standards.
- Assist in operating multiple kitchen stations (grill, sauté, fryer, prep, etc.) during service.
- Maintain consistent food quality, presentation, and portion control.
- Support menu preparation, including chopping, marinating, portioning, and ingredient preparation.
- Monitor food inventory levels and communicate restocking needs to supervisors.
- Ensure all food is handled, stored, and prepared in compliance with food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace throughout the shift.
- Weekend event support is required for the following dates: Saturday, April 4, and Saturday, May 16.
- Accountable for tracking and reporting the amount of time worked.
Competency Requirements
Culinary Skills
- Demonstrated ability to cook multiple menu items simultaneously in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques (grilling, sautéing, roasting, frying, etc.).
- Ability to follow and execute standardized recipes accurately.
- At least 1 year of professional cooking experience.
Organization & Efficiency
- Strong time management and ability to prioritize tasks during busy service periods.
- Ability to maintain a clean, organized workstation and follow kitchen systems.
Teamwork
- Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with other kitchen staff.
- Willingness to support team members and assist where needed during service.
Reliability
- Punctual, dependable, and able to work scheduled shifts consistently.
- Ability to follow instructions and maintain professional conduct in a kitchen environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs when needed.
- Comfortable working in environments with heat, sharp tools, and kitchen equipment.
Perks
- DigiPen will cover the associated costs with Food Handler’s permit.
- Uniform will be provided, including non-slip shoes.
- You will receive one meal per shift.
Expected dates of employment: March 16 – August 28, 2026
Expected number of hours per week: up to 20

Wage:
$22.50 per hour
