In this vital role you will lead the development of capabilities to enable effective resource capacity management to support the dynamic portfolio as well as workforce strategy. This position demands a high degree of collaboration across functions and the portfolio management office to enable a cohesive and strategic approach to resource and portfolio management. The ideal candidate will have the ability to translate data into insights for decision making, exceptional leadership skills, and be able to navigate complex, matrixed environments effectively.

  • Drive the comprehensive, forward-looking vision for Strategic Resource Management (SRM).
  • Lead the strategic direction and execution of SRM initiatives.
  • Enhance the SRM capabilities, comprising of an ecosystem of business processes, systems, analytics (including supply, demand, gap assessment, scenario modeling) and insights, in alignment with the forward-looking vision.
  • Champion innovation and the adoption of new technologies and methodologies in resource management.
  • Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with functional stakeholders, senior executives, and portfolio governance bodies to enhance SRM operating model.
  • Support decision-making across all levels in the organization—functional managers, functional leaders, cross-functional product teams, portfolio governance—with resourcing data and insights to complete organizational strategies and portfolio priorities.
  • Partner with Finance and Functional budget gatekeepers to embed resource budget true up, impact and variance analysis into the resource forecasting process.
  • Establish and manage comprehensive performance metrics to ensure the efficient, value-focused delivery of resource management data and insights. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize the effectiveness and impact of SRM deliverables.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to direct reports and emerging leaders. Foster a culture of teamwork, inclusion, excellence, continuous learning, and career development within the team.
  • Maintain a proactive awareness of external trends and developments to ensure that Amgen’s capabilities remain at the forefront of the industry. Represent the organization in key industry forums and build strategic relationships with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional process improvement initiatives.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of directly related experience

OR

Master’s degree and 8 years of directly related experience

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of directly related experience

In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have at least 4 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Executive presence by which one can quickly establish credibility with and influence VP/SVP/EVP level staff
  • Leadership experience in building and developing impactful teams, delivering results and shaping the future
  • Deep understanding of the R&D, drug development and commercialization process
  • Operations experience within a biotech, pharmaceutical or CRO company
  • Strong, proven track record in resource management, finance and budget management, business process and systems management
  • Strong understanding of principles of customer service as it applies to internal customers and ex
