Background information:Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of cutting-edge cloud-based integration, automated testing and data analysis for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer (Anti-Submarine Warfare Lead Systems Engineer) to be based in our Fall River, MA office. Leveraging advanced software automation, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and AI-driven capabilities, IDT accelerates capability development, enhances operational readiness, and reduces lifecycle costs for the Department of Defense. The company is dedicated to transforming defense systems through innovation, efficiency, and mission-critical results.  Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled Surface Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Lead Systems Engineer with deep domain expertise in SONAR systems, particularly AN/SQQ-89 and Integrated Combat System Processing (ICP). This role is based in our Fall River, MA office and will lead digital integration efforts for next-generation surface ship acoustic systems. As the ASW Systems Integration Lead, you will drive the development and deployment of virtualized tactical acoustic systems integrated with IDT’s Automated Test and Re-Test (ATRT) Enterprise Platform (AEP). You will play a central role in enabling model-based system engineering (MBSE), system virtualization, hardware emulation, and real-time modeling and simulation within an Integrated Digital Engineering Environment (IDEE). This position demands strategic vision, cross-functional leadership, and technical excellence. All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance.Applicants who currently have a U.S. Security Clearance are preferred. Responsibilities Include:
  • Architect and manage integration of software virtualization, hardware emulation, and simulation components to form a robust, government-owned digital twin test environment.
  • Develop and implement advanced strategies for validating and verifying system-of-systems (SoS) representations across diverse surface combat platforms.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison with Navy stakeholders, advocating for system requirements, fidelity needs, and optimization of the Integrated Digital Engineering Environment (IDEE).
  • Direct efforts to integrate ATRT AEP into surface combat systems to ensure full mission execution capabilities within classified virtual test beds.
  • Drive the sustainment and periodic updates of digital representations and integrated test environments to maintain alignment with evolving operational capabilities.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities in the Navy’s digital transformation initiatives and lead innovation to address them.
 Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or a related technical field. (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in the defense sector, particularly in digital systems development, integration, and test environments.
  • Deep familiarity with active and passive SONAR systems, including AN/SQQ-89 and ICP.
  • Solid grasp of DoD operational and tactical network infrastructure.
 Required skills:
  • Proven experience in defense system integration and testing, including both server and desktop virtualization environments
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex program requirements into technically sound, cost-effective system solutions
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing technical teams through system design, integration, and deployment phases.
  • Comfortable supporting and advising on acoustic kill chain integration and ASW digital transformation.
  • Ability to navigate classified environments, ensuring compliance with security protocols and data handling standards.
  • Strong relationships within the ASW community
  • Familiar with virtualization platforms such as VMware, KVM, or similar.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams under technical, budgetary, and timeline constraints.
  • Comfortable engaging directly with Navy leadership and technical stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% as required.
