Help shape safer, smarter construction environments across complex healthcare and high-risk settings. In this role, you’ll be the safety advocate who turns best practices into everyday habits that protect workers and elevate project execution.  

As an onsite safety leader, you’ll spend much of your week in the field—partnering with project teams, strengthening risk controls, and driving a culture where safety is built into every decision. You’ll support construction, renovation, and capital projects while contributing to program development, data driven insights, and on-call safety coverage.  

In this role, you will: 

  • Lead field rounds, job hazard reviews, and high-risk construction activity oversight 

  • Develop and enhance safety programs, trainings, and engagement strategies 

  • Analyze inspection and incident data to guide KPI reporting 

  • Facilitate timely corrective action and resolution with stakeholders 

  • Collaborate across construction, facilities, and EH&S partners 

  • Provide on-call safety coverage

The Facilities Infrastructure & Safety (FIS) business unit is vital in ensuring the safety, security, and operational integrity of Stanford Health Care facilities while also managing disaster preparedness and complex building systems to foster a secure healthcare environment. FIS is made up of multiple departments aligned in focus: Environmental Health & Safety, Facility Field Services, Protective Services, Security Services, Office of Emergency Management, Facilities Engineering - Systems, Operational Technology, Facilities Engineering- Infrastructure, Facilities Services Response Center, and Facilities Administration and Operations.  

EnvironmentalHealth and Safety (EH&S) ensures a safe, compliant, and healthy workplace by managing environmental risks, promoting a culture of safety, and leading accreditation efforts across hospital, clinic, and lab environments.

A Brief Overview
The Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Program manager is responsible for the planning, administration and management of safety, health and fire safety programs throughout the hospital to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state and federal laws, regulations and standards concerning
environmental health and safety, as well as applicable standards set forth by the Joint Commission(TJC). Ensure compliance with all standards promulgated by all Federal, State and local agencies through developing and implementing environmental management programs, on-site inspection and monitoring programs throughout the organization. Manages interactions with outside agencies and regulatory agency personnel for assigned area.

What you will do

  • Advises management and staff regarding safety protocols and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance as mandated by local, state, and federal agencies. Investigates, researches and makes recommendations regarding best practices with respect to health and safety management
  • Conducts environmental safety rounding and staff training for assigned programs; Conducts fire drills, equipment and emergency evacuation training
