Job Description
Revelyst is on the search for a strategic Category Director to manage the connected devices portfolio. The role focuses on developing, building out, and executing strategies to boost sales and profitability in the connected devices category. This includes items such as connected image capture devices, wearables, smart home devices, and related accessories. The Category Director will oversee the entire product lifecycle for this category, from market analysis and product selection to pricing, promotion, product lifecycle and managing supplier relationships.
This position reports to the VP, Bushnell, and is based out of our Bozeman office.
As the Director, Bushnell Connected Observation, you'll get the chance to influence:
Category Strategy: Develop and implement a complete strategy aligned with business objectives and market trends.
Market Research: Analyze trends, consumer needs, competitors, and growth opportunities within the specified connected devices landscape. Be the category expert for the organization.
Product Assortment: Optimize the product selection based on market demand, consumer preferences, and profitability.
Pricing Strategy: Develop and manage pricing strategies to balance competitiveness and profitability.
Supplier Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with vendors, negotiate terms, and ensure product quality.
Collaboration: Work with cross functional teams on category plans.
Performance Monitoring: Track category performance using KPIs, identify areas for improvement, and report to management.
Industry Trends: Stay updated on industry trends, new products, and technologies relevant to connected devices.
You Have:
A Bachelor's degree
7-10 years’ experience as a Category Director / Manager or similar role, preferably in consumer electronics and/or CPG.
Deep understanding of app monetization models. This includes various strategies like in-app purchases, advertising (different formats like banner, interstitial, rewarded video), subscriptions, freemium models, and partnerships.
Strong ability to analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) like Average Revenue per User (ARPU), Lifetime Value (LTV), Retention Rate, and Conversion Rate to evaluate and optimize monetization strategies.
Developing long-term strategies to drive sales and profitability within the app category, aligning with overall business objectives.
Market research & user behavior analysis. Understanding user preferences, engagement patterns, and market trends to tailor monetization strategies effectively and enhance user experience.
Familiarity with data analytics platforms, inventory management systems, and ad-tech tools is crucial for effective decision-making.
Effectively lead communication strategies and findings to internal teams (product development, marketing, sales) and external stakeholders (monetization partners, advertisers).
Fostering strong relationships with monetization partners to secure favorable terms and optimize revenue streams.
Navigating challenges related to ad quality, user experience, data privacy regulations, and evolving market trends.
Understanding the business model, costs, and financial implications of monetization decisions to maximize profitability.
Leading and motivating cross-functional teams to implement monetization strategies and achieve category goals.
