Job Description
This role is for a junior level Cisco network engineer to work with our client in Western Baltimore County in a large (40,000+ network device) environment, with locations across the United States. In this role, you will:
- Provide specific detailed information for next-generation networking hardware, operating system selection, tools, and implementation techniques to meet customer’s requirements
- Survey network requirements of remote customer offices and campus buildings
- Analyze current network configurations and determine implementation requirements
- Plan present and future network capacity requirements
- Communicate with the customer, vendors, and sub-contractor to set engineering schedule
- Provide hands-on technical expertise to prepare network equipment, associated installation tools and logistics for remote installations
- Upgrade configuration of existing network equipment to support new features and functions
- Work with field installation contractors while they are on-site and provide all technical details to complete installations
- Support and troubleshoot scripting tool and the associated Application Programming Interface (API)
- Support and troubleshoot the configurations created by the scripting tool to ensure accuracy to site specifications
- Work with teams, vendors, and contractors to determine the strategy for complex system changes, upgrades, and implementations
- Communicate technical procedures and processes to non-technical users
- Participate in problem-management reporting, resolution, and documentation in the Change, Asset and Problem Reporting System
- Develop and maintain NetWiki knowledge repository
- Implement, upgrade, maintain, troubleshoot, and support Catalyst and Nexus switch platforms by maintaining a solid understanding of the switching technologies, remote management, and network topologies.
Qualifications
- Cisco Certified Network Engineers must possess a Cisco CCNA and a minimum of 3 years of hands-on network experience
- 4-year academic degree from an accredited university STRONGLY preferred
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance, so US Citizenship or Green Card is required
- Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical topics to management and non-technical audiences, as well as interface with the customer on a daily basis
- Currently in a location that is commutable on a daily basis to the Baltimore MD area
- Base salary of $55,000 to $69,000 (plus benefits)
· Desired Qualifications:
- Understanding of Microsoft Server Operating System and related Microsoft Server Applications and Services
