We have an exciting opportunity for a Summer Intern - OREE Youth Advisory Council at UL Research Institutes. This will be a remote position.
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on society through research and education? Underwriters Laboratories is seeking a motivated and dedicated Research Intern to join our team for the Summer 2025. This 3-month internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a non-profit research environment, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop valuable skills in research and analysis.

OREE:
The Office of Research Experiences and Education (OREE) cultivates the next generation of safety scientists through a mix of unique educational programs, academic partnerships, and research and standards development experiences.
We translate the findings of our research institutes into compelling educational materials, bringing to life scientific concepts using contemporary best education practices to create learning opportunities for a wide variety of secondary through postgraduate students. Our academic collaborations and support for the next generation of safety scientists likewise reach across the educational spectrum, including partnerships that reach out to students who are underrepresented in STEM fields.
Through all of our programs, we aim to unlock the diverse perspectives that are essential for solving the world’s most pressing safety and sustainability issues.
What you’ll learn and achieve:
As the Summer Intern - OREE Youth Advisory Council, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you:
Assist in ideating and implementing a Youth Advisory Council to inform OREE’s safety mission and goals. This may involve literature reviews and synthesizing information from various sources.
Support in creating reports, presentations, and visualizations summarizing research findings and to recruit youth for the council. Prepare materials for internal and external presentations.
Work closely with the education teams and other departments to gather information, share insights, and contribute to a collaborative and innovative research environment.
Assist in managing and organizing research projects, ensuring they are on schedule and within budget. Take on specific tasks related to project goals.
Stay current with relevant literature, trends, and developments in the field to contribute valuable insights to ongoing projects.
Perform administrative duties as needed, including data entry, scheduling, and coordination of meetings.
