About the role
Job Summary:The Maintenance Technician I will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.
Essential Duties:
- Performs property checks for service and cleanliness needs.
- Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.
- Notifies Environmental Services Supervisor of any potential maintenance problems.
- Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. May include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
- Utilize a variety of powered and non-powered equipment.
- Performs routine maintenance on building systems.
- Participate in community building activities as appropriate to position.
- Attends workshops, meetings, and training as requested by supervisor.
- May serve as Community Advocate role in addition to job as requested by community leadership.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) or equivalent training or work experience
Certifications or Licenses:
- Valid AZDPS Fingerprint Clearance card.
- Current valid CPR and First Aid certification.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) & ESR (Emergency Service Response) certification.
- Tuberculosis test from health professional.
Skills/Abilities:
- A minimal knowledge of contemporary substance abuse treatment practices in a residential setting.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with a high level of empathy.
- Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectively under pressure generated through association with substance abuse students.

- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment.
- Frequently required to stand for extended periods of time.
- Frequently required to perform physical work for extended periods of time.
- Frequently required to reach, walk, climb, pull, push, grasp, stretch, and stoop.
- Frequently required talk, hear, see, and use repetitive motions.
- Frequently able to communicate verbally and in written form.

- Work Conditions:
- Generally, in an indoor setting but may work outdoors.
- Works in outdoor elements such as heat, precipitation, and wind.
- Will be working with commercial equipment and tools powered and non-powered.
- Environmental Conditions:
- The noise level in the work environment is moderate loud to loud (70-90 dB).
- The temperature in the work environment is usually moderate to cool but can be cold.
- Travel:
- May travel locally as needed.
