The mission of Lake Junaluska is to be a place of Christian hospitality where lives are transformed through renewal of soul, mind and body.
Located in the Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina, Lake Junaluska is a conference and retreat center that hosts over 50,000 overnight guests annually. We have over 400 lodging rooms, a campground, and meeting space for up to 2,000 people. All facilities are located on a scenic 1,200 acres that boasts panoramic views, abundant recreation opportunities and a 200-acre lake. Our market ranges from youth groups to affluent leisure guests primarily from the Southeastern United States.
Position Summary:
The Marketing Media Assistant supports the organization’s digital presence, brand consistency, and on-site promotional efforts through content creation, digital maintenance, communication support, and administrative coordination. The role blends creative production with hands-on event support and requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to capture and communicate the brand’s story across multiple platforms.
Essential Duties:
Content Capture & Assets - 35%
Photography/Videography: Capture "in-the-moment" photos and short-form video (Reels/TikToks) of events, menu items, and the golf course grounds.
Digital Asset Organization: Maintain the company’s library of photos, logos, and videos, ensuring files are named correctly and easy for the team to access.
Coordinate contract and volunteer photographers (schedule dates and download photo files to marketing drive)
Digital Maintenance & Design - 30%
Basic Graphic Design: Utilize Canva to create on-brand flyers and signage.
Social Media Maintenance: Assist Marketing Coordinator in drafting, schedule, and post content across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Nextdoor etc.) to maintain a consistent brand voice.
Website Updates: Perform routine updates to the website, such as changing menu prices, updating holiday hours, or posting upcoming event dates.
Listing Management: Monitor and update Google Business and Visit Haywood profiles to ensure contact info and menus are current.
Email & Communication - 20%
Email Marketing: Assist in the assembly and distribution of weekly or monthly newsletters, including basic layout and link testing.
Review Contact Us requests: Drafting professional responses to maintain a positive brand reputation and adding individuals to email or mail contact lists.
Administrative & On-Site Support - 15%
Collateral Distribution: Ensure physical marketing materials (posters, table tents, brochures) are printed, current, and displayed correctly around the property.
Event Support: Assist with the setup and live coverage of on-site events, tournaments, or dining specials.
Administrative Support: Help manage the marketing calendar and coordinate with vendors (printers, photographers, etc.).
QualificationsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required minimum of high school diploma with 2 years of relevant experience in Marketing, Photography or related field.
Must have excellent organization and communication skills.
Should be highly motivated, team-oriented, creative and collaborative.
Able to work in Microsoft Office, Canva, WordPress, Constant Contact and Google Workspace; Experience with software is preferred.
Require experience with taking and editing photos for marketing initiatives.
Prefer knowledge and experience with both digital and print advertising.
Strong communication skills, writing and verbal.
Professional knowledge of and comfort working with social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube.
Experience with basic video projects is preferred.
Must possess excellent hospitality skills and a strong desire to foster an attitude of Christian hospitality.
Internship experience will be considered.
Experience and familiarity with 501(c)3 not-for-profit organizations preferred.
Working Conditions
Light to moderate physical activity performing non-strenuous administrative type work.
Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation; with quiet to moderate noise.
Physical demands: able to lift up to 25 pounds, manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items.
