Account Specialist (Accountant)

We are searching for an Account Specialist (Accountant) for a 1yr. contract assignment.  This is an opportunity to join one of the fastest growing Oil & Gas companies. The ideal candidate will have a 5 plus years of onshore experience combined with a degree in Accounting/Finance and excellent Excel skills to support the Accounting team.  The person will execute a number of foundational accounting tasks in agreement with normal procedures, including general accounting tasks.

 

Location:  Houston TX.

 

• Review status of delinquent accounts daily and initiate collection action by contacting customers
• Confirm documents and codes.
• Contact clients to help resolve payment issues; assist in setting up payment plans
• Process payments and compile segments of monthly closings and annual reports in compliance with GAAP.
• Square bank accounts, posting and balancing financial data in diverse ledgers.
• Process Monthly JIB close (Backup)
• Creates monthly journal entries in Excalibur and SAP.
• Mailing JIB invoices (monthly) for Partners not on Energy Link.
• Performs monthly Account Analysis
• Resolve billing disputes.
• Assist with setting up Cash Advances paid by Partners.
• Ad Hoc projects requested by JIB Manager/Supervisor.
• Adopt a continuous improvement approach aimed at enhancing processes, identifying improvements/efficiencies.
   

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
• 1+ years of Oil & Gas Revenue experience with domestic on-shore operators.
• Excellent fundamental accounting skills; hands on experience with general ledger reconciliations
• Knowledge of Oil & Gas Systems specifically Excalibur or Bolo
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment, manage multiple tasks and meet short deadlines

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to demonstrate initiative and interact effectively with others in a team environment
• Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) with internal & external clients
• Advanced Excel skills
• Fluctuations in workloads will require some overtime
• Problem solving and analytical thinking as necessary to accomplish accounting objectives
