BOOST is partnering with a cleared small business that provides mission-critical, AI-driven cyber defense and reverse engineering solutions for U.S. Government clients to hire a Senior Software Developer. This opportunity is 100% onsite located in the Northern Virginia area.

Position Summary:

As a Senior Software Developer, you will design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly performant automation services and tools to power next-generation AI-enabled cyber operations. You will embed DevSecOps best practices into every stage of the software lifecycle, collaborating closely with data science, threat-hunt, and reverse-engineering teams in a fast-paced classified environment. This role demands unwavering commitment to mission-first, people-always values, engineering solutions with zero tolerance for mission failure, and a bias for action to deliver under tight, high-stakes timelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect and implement microservices in Python or Java, designing robust RESTful and GraphQL APIs, and lightweight but secure UI components.

  • Build secure, scalable tools in collaboration with the AI team to directly support mission analysts and cyber operators.

  • Automate CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI or GitHub Actions, integrating static and dynamic code analysis, container security scanning, and automated test frameworks.

  • Implement infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and Ansible to deploy applications on Kubernetes clusters hosted within accredited secure cloud environments.

  • Optimize performance for latency-sensitive workloads, writing unit, integration, and system tests to maintain high code quality and mission resiliency.

  • Harden applications against adversary exploitation by applying modern secure-coding standards, secure authentication/authorization practices, and robust encryption protocols.

  • Integrate data streaming telemetry and endpoint event sources in close partnership with Cyber SMEs, ensuring seamless mission-relevant data flows.

  • Conduct code reviews, maintain technical documentation, and mentor junior developers to grow the next generation of secure software engineers.

  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to translate operational mission needs into highly reliable, secure, and scalable software solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Eight plus (8+) years of software engineering experience in classified, highly regulated, or mission-critical environments.

  • Strong proficiency in Python plus at least one compiled systems language (e.g., Go, Rust, C++).

  • Hands-on expertise with Docker containers and Kubernetes orchestration at scale.

  • Proven experience building CI/CD automation pipelines and secure version-control workflows using Git.

  • Strong grasp of secure coding principles, including secure authentication, authorization, cryptography, and data protection patterns.

  • Exceptional ability to explain complex technical concepts to multidisciplinary teams supporting critical mission outcomes.

  • Commitment to mission-first, people-always execution with zero tolerance for mission failure.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • PMP, PgMP, DAWIA/FAC-P/PM Level III, or equivalent advanced program management certification.

  • Prior senior officer (Lieutenant Colonel or above), GS-15+, or equivalent leadership experience overseeing complex, high-consequence mission programs.

  • Experience scaling small-business programs under IDIQ, SBIR, 8(a), or other federal contracting frameworks.

  • Familiarity with corporate surge scaling, enterprise-level strategic planning, and growth-focused leadership.

Clearance Requirement:

  • Must be willing to obtain a TS/SCI with polygraph.

Salary Range:

  • $245K-$260K (Salary commensurate with experience)
