Job Summary
We are looking for a dynamic, results-driven individual to join as a Senior Corporate Accountant to execute a broad array of accounting activities (transactional and supervisory) for multiple divisions within the plastics group. Reporting to the Corporate Accounting Manager, this role will focus on completing the daily, monthly, and annual accounting transactions. This position is responsible for reviewing the amounts recorded to ensure that they are accurate and can be efficiently and effectively substantiated by internal and external stakeholders. The Senior Accountant will also assist with new accounting standard implementations, and the build-out/execution of financial control processes of our Benefit Insurance Entity.
Responsibilities
Month-End Close Execution & Ownership
- Prepare and post accurate and timely journal entries to support monthly financial results.
- Perform and review all Corporate and Benefit Insurance Entity balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation.
- Monitor close calendars and deliverables to ensure on-time completion of month-end activities across multiple business units.
- Assist with the preparation and review of monthly financial statements and variance analyses.
- Assist, as needed, in ME close processes for credit card reconciliations and Intercompany transactions.
- Partner closely with Finance to provide support with consolidated financial questions
Financial Statement Accuracy & Compliance
- Ensure all financial data is recorded in accordance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Research and justify correctness of lease transactions
- Identify and resolve discrepancies or unusual transactions promptly, escalating as needed.
- Support internal and external audit requests with proper documentation and explanations.
Process Standardization & Continuous Improvement
- Create, research and implement a standardized and sustainable process for reconciling and maintaining our Benefit Insurance Entity and payroll for all US based entities
- Assist in the implementation of standardized month-end close processes across U.S. and international accounting teams.
- Partner with accounting leadership and cross-functional teams to streamline workflows and reduce close cycle time.
- Recommend and implement improvements in account reconciliation, journal entry, and reporting procedures.
- Work with payroll system to build custom accounting specific reports and correct any mapping issues
- Lead integrations related to efficiency in Benefit Insurance Entity.
Collaboration & Communication
- Create and Receive purchase orders for Corporate Team
- Act as a key liaison between corporate accounting and regional accounting teams to ensure consistent application of policies and procedures.
- Provide training and guidance to junior staff or international team members on accounting standards and process expectations as needed.
- Participate in cross-functional projects related to systems, reporting enhancements, or process automation.
- Assist other corporate teams with implementation and companywide initiatives as needed.
