As a Senior Silicon Competitive Analysis Engineer, you will provide critical in-depth insights into the competitive landscape of silicon technologies. Your inputs will be key to technical trade-off evaluation and future architecture discussion at our R&D lab of Samsung Semiconductor.

In this brand-new position, you will evaluate and analyze the technical specifications, performance metrics, and market positioning of competitor silicon products. Your discoveries will empower and guide SARC/ACL in our strategic decision-making, product development, and market positioning processes.

• You get excited about conducting comprehensive research on competing silicon technologies, including CPUs, GPUs, accelerators, and other semiconductor components.
• You expertly combine an analytical mindset with a strong technical aptitude to thoroughly analyze and evaluate the technical specifications, performance benchmarks, and power efficiency of competitor products. This includes but is not limited to, key workload behavior on competitions subframe time, ALU instruction counts, texture fetch, memory traffic) and architecture exploration (raw throughputs such as ALU/Texture/Pixel, compression scheme, dedicated HW engine for specific features, Cache hierarchy).
• You own the design and execution of microbenchmark tests to identify our silicon product’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and competitive edge.
• You prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing competitive analysis and insights to regularly update our teams on competitors’ movements, innovations, and market disruptions. This includes maintaining a comprehensive database of information and regularly updating stakeholders on relevant market developments.
• You are a forward-thinking innovator. You will provide strategic inputs to influence the roadmap for our next-generation architecture, design, and software exploration, and guide executive decision-making.
• You thrive on driving cross-company collaboration to assist in the formulation of strategies to enhance our organization’s competitive position. You work closely with engineering, product development, and marketing teams to integrate competitive insights into product roadmaps and marketing strategies. You also partner with the legal team to ensure compliance with intellectual property regulations.
• You’re a lifelong learner. You always stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and market dynamics related to silicon products.

Skills and Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/relevant technical field, or 8+ years of experience with a Master’s degree, or 6+ years of experience with a PhD
• Proven experience in silicon competitive analysis within the semiconductor industry.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and technologies.
• Familiarity with benchmarking tools and methodologies.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
