SUMMARY:  Responsible for providing assistance to the Principal in the administration of the total school program.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.

  • Serves as the administrative head of the school in the absence of the principal, ensuring continuity of daily operations.
  • Administers and monitors the student discipline program to promote a safe, orderly, and respectful learning environment.
  • Assists in the supervision and evaluation of certified and classified staff in accordance with district policies and procedures.
  • Manages day-to-day building operations, including staff deployment, class coverage, and response to facility or building concerns.
  • Monitors staff attendance and coordinates coverage, including securing and assigning substitute teachers.
  • Assists in planning and scheduling assemblies, drills, and other special events held during the school day.
  • Assists in coordinating the development and implementation of the school's master teaching schedule.
  • Provides general supervision of students throughout the school day and supervises extracurricular activities as assigned.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with parents, families, and community partners.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the principal or district administration.

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises over 100 employees in the High School when the Principal is absent from the building. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:    

  • Holds a master's degree in Education from an accredited institution.
  • Has a minimum of five years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience.

 

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Possesses valid South Carolina administrative certification , Secondary Principalship certification required.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from community, regulatory agencies, or members of staff.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
