Under the supervision of the Area Manager, this position is responsible for leading people in the movement of materials through their designated areas. Responsible for instructing employees in safety, quality, productivity and efficiency standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety
Work in a safe manner at all times by following all safety guidelines.
Ensure safe work practices in the area by all personnel: material handlers, inventory coordinators, and visitors.
Train employees on the proper safety practices and processes of proper PPE usage, equipment usage, and good housekeeping and organization.
Quality
Ensure quality deliveries and logging of deliveries in Weiler Workshop.
Troubleshoot inaccurate deliveries.
Oversee the receiving of PO receipts and ensure first article inspections.
Ensure that quality policies and practices are followed by all personnel under their supervision.
Productivity
Communicate production needs to area employees.
Ensure routings are completed through entire process.
Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure processes are completed.
Efficiency
Work towards improvement of daily goals of assigned work areas.
Follow up on projects as needed to ensure project dates are being met.
Assist the Area Manager in monitoring area performance through established methods.
Deliver parts by due date or hot parts, depending on production needs.
Leadership
Foster open communication from employees.
Maintain positive interpersonal relationships which encourages openness and cooperation within a group.
Oversee and be accountable for accurate handling and delivery of parts throughout the facility.
SUPERVISORY REPONSIBILITIES
This job is responsible for overseeing a designated area/department. The Group Leader assists in oversight of a designated area when the Area Manager is absent.
QualificationsEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED Required
3 – 5 years’ related experience in a manufacturing environment and/or additional related education required
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read, write and comprehend documents and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to internal and external individuals and groups.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Basic computer skills with the ability to look up information (prints, BOM).
Prior experience with a computer preferred.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
Reads and understands measuring devices such as a tape measure, weld fillet gauge, calipers, micrometer, a level, square, sight gages, protractor or angle finder.
Has ability to read schematics and Weiler blueprints as needed
Must possess solid analytical skills.
Ability to operate with a high level of accuracy.
Ability to effectively utilize resources.
Ability to prioritize and multi-task due to a wide variety of daily responsibilities.
Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and resolve them effectively.
Efficient in the use of software programs: Weiler Workshop, Intuitive, etc.
