Overall Function:
Coordinates and implements the daily program activity and staffing of one or more Senior Citizen Centers.
Essential Functions:
- Plans and oversees the entire schedule of activities at the assigned Senior Center or Satellite Center.
- Staffs the elected Senior Advisory Committee to ensure consumer input to program planning.
- Provides day-to-day direction to center volunteers.
- Maintains center program records, completes and submits all required documentation, client intakes and service utilization information, in a timely manner.
- Provides community outreach and education related to the availability of program services.
- Adheres to all policies, laws, regulations and codes of ethics and confidentiality as outlined by federal and state laws, and agency policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Gerontology, Social Work or a related human service field; or an Associate Degree in one of the above listed human services field with two years of work experience; or a High School graduate with four years of related work experience. Related work experience includes that which requires daily contact with the public and documented experiences.
- Demonstrated knowledge of aging programs and available social services.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with volunteers, internal staff and social service agencies.
- Must successfully obtain Criminal History Clearance with the PA State Police, Child Abuse Clearance from the Department of Human Services and FBI Fingerprint Clearances.
- Must not be excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid or any other federal health care program.
- Ability to transport oneself in an insured vehicle, as program needs dictate.
- Ability to observe and recognize verbal and non-verbal signs of physical or mental disorders.
- Ability to obtain certification to administer Standard First Aid and CPR, when necessary.
