This position will be primarily responsible for organizational leadership, including strategic planning across a diverse number of activities and compliance subject areas in R&D Quality. This person will be the point of contact for the functional budget, resource forecasting, and capacity management, intra-and interdepartmental communication and alignment with the SPO across Quality and R&D. The primary job functions of this position will be:

• Chief of staff to Vice President R&D Quality

• Provide operational support to VP and R&D QLT including planning, communications, budgeting

• Develop and/or drive execution of VP communication plan

• Work with VP to organize staff meetings that meet engagement plan objective

• Partner with R&D Strategy & Operations and with Quality SPOs and business planners to ensure accurate forecasting and representation of work in R&D Quality, e.g. regular reports

• R&D QLT Team meeting structure and cadence, agenda, facilitation, minutes and action tracking

• Facilitate Department goal setting and initiatives and track results

• Establish, track progress, and communicate risks to delivering to departmental goal and commitments

• Finalize R&D Quality Strategy in line with R&D and Quality functional strategies

• Facilitate preparation of internal presentations and "roadshows" including All-Staff presentations, reports on business performance

• Represent the goals for the Department and partner with other functions in support of R&D, Quality and Ops objectives

• Organizational chart maintenance, headcount tracking and job description maintenance

• Identify, lead or contribute to initiatives/process improvement opportunities as designated by VP

• Update and maintenance of R&D Q website, SharePoint (look, feel, branding etc)

• Lead select committees to advise R&D QLT as needed (e.g. advisory council"_

• Manage R&D Quality business and conference attendance planning

• Proactively identify and resolve upcoming issues within the Department, and collaborate with other departments

• Gather, analyze, and synthesize cross-functional information across a variety of sources to turn unstructured business issues and requests into appropriate action plans and projects that result in high quality, meaningful and concrete deliverables.

• Manage partners by clearly communicating status, issues, implications and recommendations

• Assist in interactions at senior level forums as needed

• Support cross-functional business initiatives as assigned

• May have responsibilities associated with business operations activities (e.g. Management Review)

Basic Qualifications:

• Doctorate degree and 2 years of Operations and R&D Quality experience OR

• Master’s degree and 4 years of Operations and R&D Quality experience OR

• Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of Operations and R&D Quality experience OR

• Associate’s degree and 10 years of Operations and R&D Quality experience OR

• High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Operations and R&D Quality experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• MBA with an understanding/working knowledge of research and development within the pharma industry

• 3-5 years experience as a Chief of Staff or SOP

• Extensive experience in managing budgets and operations in a R&D quality organization
