Job Description
The Managing Director, Risk Management will lead risk management and insurance procurement for RangeWater Real Estate and its development, acquisitions, construction, investment management and property management companies (collectively, “RangeWater”). This position will report to the Chief Legal Officer and will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Legal Officer to develop and implement a multi-year strategic risk management plan to evolve RangeWater’s insurance programs, risk mitigation practices and claims management. The Managing Director, Risk Management will be a key partner to each RangeWater business leader and will add valuable support and guidance in mitigating risk and maximizing the operational and financial success of each business line.
Strategy
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify, assess and manage evolving risks. Proactively identify trends, develop strategic plans, recommend solutions, implement and train risk reduction/ transfer methodologies to mitigate future losses.
• Build and manage a risk management budget and team to provide cost sensitive risk management services aligned with RangeWater’s strategic plan.
• Partner with the CFO and CLO to launch a captive insurance company and manage the growth and uses of the captive insurance company.
• Evaluate and, if appropriate, implement a Risk Management Information System (RMIS).
Insurance
• Manage brokers, underwriters and consultant communications, services and resources to ensure effective flow of information and most effective use of broker and carrier resources.
• Oversee annual insurance renewals for all lines of coverage, including property, casualty, executive risk, errors and omissions, network/cyber liability and pollution liability, ensuring accurate and timely completion of updated exposure values and insurance renewal applications.
• Review insurance policies and endorsements to ensure adequacy and accuracy of policy coverage forms, endorsements/exclusions and identify coverage gaps. Analyze appropriate coverage limits and deductibles and oversee maintenance of all insurance policies, binders and endorsements.
• Oversee allocation of insurance premiums and premium payments.
• Manage the RangeWater Master Insurance Program, including developing criteria for third-party participation and marketing tools to increase participation of qualified third-party owners.
• Partner with Property Management in managing the RangeWater renters’ insurance program.
• Develop standards and process for review of insurance provisions in contracts and certificates of insurance.
Safety
• Identify loss causes and trends. In conjunction with the Operations team, develop and
implement safety programs and training to help prevent or reduce accidents and injuries, continuing to integrate safety into RangeWater culture.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory safety agencies.
• Manage the workers’ compensation and incident reporting program with the appropriate members of the People team.
