About the role

The Senior Contracts Specialist, manages a portfolio of contracts from multiple donors; provides in-house expertise, guidance and advice to project managers regarding funder rules and regulations; provides contracts management support to program through contracts life cycle; and supports corporate initiatives. The Senior Contract Specialist serves as a an expert on contractual matters and engages within and across teams globally as needed. The Senior Contracts Specialist engages with external stakeholders and may manage external vendors or providers. This is a remote position that reports to the Sr. Contracts Manager. ThinkWell may hire for one or multiple of the advertised Contract positions.

Contracts Management

  • Manage a portfolio of contracts from multiple donors including the United States Government, Foreign Governments and Private Foundations
  • Review and negotiate terms and conditions with donors, clients, vendors and other suppliers
  • Ability to lead Internal kickoff meeting with departmental representatives and senior management
  • Has problem solving skills and is customer centric
  • Conduct internal kick off meeting upon execution of contract with relevant staff
  • Lead donor or prime communication on contractual matters
  • Collaborate with other departments within ThinkWell including the Country office staff
  • Develop contracts approval matrix for use during implementation
  • Create complex modifications to subawards, consultants, vendors, etc.
  • Advise and train employees on contract and compliance topics, policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with contract/subcontract requirements
  • Prepare RFQs, review quotes and assist in selecting vendor, prepare justifications, performs due diligence
  • Provide general contract implementation support to all assigned projects
  • Negotiate and manage subawards & consulting agreements
  • Provide additional support as required in area of expertise
  • Develop and monitor reporting & tracking of subcontractors, consultants, project compliance, etc.
  • Will be required to review draft Contracts during and prior to Contracts execution
  • Will be expected to lead negotiations with donors/Funders including Prime when ThinkWell is a Sub
  • Collaborate with Design Lab upon new contract award for background information.
  • Have understanding of budgetary matters
  • Should be able to represent ThinkWell during donor kick off meetings
  • Provide support to Design Lab (Business Development Department) during proposal stage

Requirements

  • BA/BS and 10+ years experience or graduate degree and 8+ years experience;
  • Substantial work experience in international development procurement and subaward management;
  • Field level experience required;
  • Experience with USG rules, regulations and FAR/OMB. USAID, CDC, private foundation and corporation contracts experience;
  • Adept at communicating technical information to non-technical audiences;
  • A team player, motivated to provide subject matter expertise with a collaborative, customer service orientation;
  • Demonstrated ability to complete tasks quickly, thoroughly and conscientiously with attention to detail and a responsive, ‘can-do’ attitude;
