Position will be posted until filled.

The Associate Retail Credit Officer is responsible for working closely with Retail Customers when requests fall outside of AAC’s decision trees and require differential analysis.  Knowledge of the Retail market segment to ensure customer needs are met through appropriate solutions, loan structuring and loan servicing while operating within Association risk tolerance.  This role operates in a fast paced environment and requires adaptability to new challenges and situations when presented.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Focus on providing excellent customer service.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Work with customer to obtain necessary information make appropriate credit decision.

  • Based on differential analysis, reviews pertinent credit and financial information on retail loans; determines the need for more thorough investigation or additional information; analyzes financial statements and related material; offers opinions on credit risk, as appropriate.

  • Acts as final approver, or makes recommendations for higher approval, when customer request falls outside of decision tree.

  • Follow up with customers with delinquent payments and work with them to determine if a new/different solution is needed.

  • Accurately identify credit risk and potential stress/distress in accounts; send distressed loan notices when appropriate and negotiate appropriate solutions with customer. 

  • Ability to make sound decisions involving varied levels of risks and ambiguity. 

  • Demonstrated ability to assess multiple tasks or issues which are competing for a limited amount of time or resources and determine the order in which each will be addressed; sets priorities, goals, and timetables to achieve maximum productivity.

  • Takes initiative for learning and development by acquiring and refining of technical and professional skills needed in job related areas; proactively seeks performance feedback and identifies approaches to improve own performance.

  • Interacts and communicates regularly and effectively with management and staff within the division and across the association.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  

LEVELS OF SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED:

  • Exercises no supervision; makes independent decisions; works under general supervision of Team Lead, Manager, or Senior Leadership.

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BA/BS degree with emphasis on agribusiness, business administration, or equivalent.

  • At least 3-5 years of progressively responsible banking or related agricultural lending experience.

  • Strong credit and analytical skills. Demonstrated understanding of agricultural lending principles and practices, and association and Farm Credit System operating policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of FCA regulations, association, and district policies and procedures.

  • In-depth understanding of the product offerings of American AgCredit and thorough understanding of the external marketplace.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in organizing and prioritizing work to meet deadlines.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong persuasive and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient in use of PC, including word-processing, e-mail and electronic spreadsheet software
