JOB PURPOSE: The Senior Security Officer reports to Security Management and works in conjunction with the department’s leadership on the overall operations and duties for all security-related functions associated with an assigned shift. Provides protection for personnel and company property. May arrange for extra protection for key employees as needed. As the Senior Security Officer administers and oversees all site security operations during shift to ensure the safety of El Rio Health staff, patients and guests as well as protecting El Rio Health properties from unauthorized access, sabotage, vandalism, or theft.
The Senior Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the highest level of professionalism from the security officers working their assigned shifts. Additionally, is the primary site contact for law enforcement agencies when Security Supervisor or Manager is not on-site.
Essential Job Functions:
◦ Provides protection for personnel and company property.
◦ Performs and arranges extra protection for key employees as assigned.
◦ Assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of security procedure based on policies determined by Security Management to meet required codes and regulations.
◦ Assists with bi-annual emergency code drills.
◦ Performs all Security Officer duties as specified in the “Security Officers” job description to include the safety of patients, employees and contractors and maintaining confidential information.
◦ Sees that security team members on their assigned shift comply with policies and established standard operative mandates, including uniform standards.
◦ Duties include, but are not limited to planning, scheduling, organizing, and directing security-related work, training personnel, and recommending applicants for training opportunities or corrective action.
◦ Trains and enforces approved safety regulations at the work sites.
◦ Executes procedures and processes to provide physical protection for personnel and company property and meets required codes and regulations.
◦ Ensures security team shift priorities are followed based on policies and procedures.
◦ Communicates clearly, effectively, and professionally with management, employees, clients, partners, and vendors.
◦ Supports security administration with internal investigations in accordance with legal requirements and company policies. Ensures that all security team members assigned to a shift meet all El Rio Health uniform standards.
Minimum Education and Experience:
◦ High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.)
◦ Two (2) years’ experience Former Law Enforcement or documented past experience dealing extensively with verbal desolation of upset customers.
◦ Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, after hours call outs, holidays and be part of on-call rotational protocol.

If applicable, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered and must be directly related to the functions and responsibilities of the job.

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:
◦ Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers.
◦ Level I fingerprint clearance card: current valid and in good standing or have applied for it within seven working days after beginning employment.
◦ The employee must complete JPX pepper gel gun training during the probationary period and carry on duty the JPX pepper gel gun after passing the 90-day probationary period.
◦ Employees in this position are required to have reliable transportation that can meet any operational reassignments of the organization during the workday. If an employee is driving during work hours, the employee is required to possess a valid driver’s license and must comply with Arizona vehicle insurance requirements.

Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities:
◦ Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement or related field.
◦ Four (4) years’ experience in overseeing the work performance of multiple employees.
◦ Proven knowledge of security-based practices.
◦ Experience in the operation of CCTV systems.
◦ Bilingual (English/Spanish) with the ability to speak, read and write in both languages.
