About the role

SUMMARY

The HR Business Partner is to play a vital role in transforming the Human Resources function from a traditional administration model to delivering HR services as a strategic business partner.  As such, the position focuses on developing and implementing world class HR procedures, policies and programs aligned with the organization’s strategy and business plans, bringing alignment, clarity and accountability to the organization. Under the direction of the Director, Human Resources, the HR Business Partner participates in the planning, execution, and evaluation of HR practices such as HRIS administration, payroll, benefits, compensation, performance management, and employee relations.  

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Acts as the department lead in UKG and associated programming.
  2. Assists HR Director and CFO in implementation and administration of compensation and health & wellness programs, including the development of strategies and communication.
  3. Partners with insurance brokers to ensure company compliance with all IRS and DOL benefit reporting requirements.
  4. Assists with the EAA Volunteer Program for AirVenture as well as year-round programs to ensure key elements of success are included. Ensures organizational consistency in delivery of volunteer programs from the HR standpoint.
    1. Help administer coordination, training, and procedures to staff liaisons, chairmen and volunteers.
  5. Leverages HRIS system to streamline processes, track metrics, and run reports. Lead on payroll processing and benefits processing.
  6. Responsible for improving the productivity of the organization’s employees. Assists with the effective development, coordination and presentation of training and development programs for all employees.
  7. Prepares and maintains job documentation, job evaluation, and company compensation programs as needed.
  8. Ensures overall education and understanding of HR/volunteer policies and procedures.
  9. General HR Support to include, but not limited to:
    1. Provide support to employees and people leaders in the handling of all human resources related activities fairly and consistently, which may include: employee relations, fielding employee questions or concerns, communication and the interpretation of policies and procedures.
    2. Supports and serves as a liaison between employees and management.
    3. Works with managers and employees to identify, develop and facilitate training and development needs. 
    4. Provide employee relations counseling, working in tandem with the Director of Human Resources on more complex issues.
    5. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations as needed.
  10. Participates in developing and executing HR departmental annual objectives and goals.
  11. AirVenture and Seasonal Support
    1. Assist in recruiting for AirVenture hiring for our Security operations which includes hiring manager communication/training, marketing contact, hiring event planning, onboarding, offboarding, debrief, etc.
    2. May act as a staff liaison for various areas of AirVenture.
    3. Assists with volunteer recognition initiatives as needed.
  12. Embraces and supports the EAA mission and performs safe practices in the workplace and aviation environment.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of work experience in human resources or a related field, with solid payroll/comp/benefits experience
  • In-depth experience in UKG
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times, without exception
  • Must maintain fair and consistent HR practices at all times, without exception
  • Knowledge of appropriate federal and state regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), UKG
  • Demonstrated ability to gain trust and credibility with employees – relationship building skills with people at all levels and in all functions
  • Excellent communication and organization skills; ability to prioritize workload, handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work self-directed with a sense of urgency

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certifications: SPHR or PHR, or SHRM-CP
  • General understanding and/or interest of aviation industry

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Typical office setting. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
