About the role

Description

The Campus Security Student Assistant will work closely with the Director of Security and other staff members to support the daily operations of the Westminster College Security Department. This role includes both administrative and security-related responsibilities. A high level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail is required.

  

Duties will vary depending on the skills and strengths of the student worker. The following list includes common responsibilities, but is not limited to:

· Assist the Director of Security with administrative and operational tasks

· Organize, sort, and track keys and assist with key audits

· Sort and review incident and security reports for Clery compliance and filing

· Assist in reviewing and organizing emergency management plans and documents

· Help prepare and assist during security trainings and emergency drills

· Create simple or complex flyers for training, awareness campaigns, or event notifications

· Generate flow charts, basic infographics, and other visual materials for training and planning

· File reports, documents, and records in both digital and physical formats

· Support preparation and setup for trainings, drills, and security-related events

· Conduct campus errands or assist with basic patrol tasks, when appropriate

· Maintain confidentiality with sensitive information and security-related matters


 Flexible hours between 8 AM and 5 PM, with occasional evening or weekend availability depending on event support needs. Specific schedules will be coordinated based on class schedules, sports (events, practices and trainings), club and organization commitments and the security department needs.

Requirements

  

· Must be currently enrolled as an active student at Westminster College

· Reliable, trustworthy, and professional in demeanor

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer use

· Comfortable using Canva or other basic design tools (helpful but not required)

· Able to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision

· Willingness to learn and adapt to a variety of responsibilities

· Prior experience in an office or security-related environment is a plus
